Sam Vicary is our official musical antihero for STR003, parting with his cosmic wisdom for an exclusive remix of Broken Brass Ensemble. With an adept knowledge of orchestration, you might be more familiar with his outstanding grooves and riff talents in the acclaimed Cinematic Orchestra. But like Jekyll to Hyde, his alter-ego Hunrosa demonstrates an almost villainous transformation, into a hybrid genre of acoustic and electronica.

‘Windsurfing' shows Hunrosa actively contorting Broken Brass’ spatial image through an ambient, electronic and down-tempo journey; wielding an elusive Drum n’ Bass beat into heroic brass chords. By constructing his own lexicon of style, rhythms, structures and synthesizers, Hunrosa’s universe of sound and awareness shows no limits. Yet the emotive and authoritative signature tone of Broken Brass is never compromised, destining ‘Windsurfing’ as a landmark in the mad scientist’s talents.
